The witterings of a web developer

My name is Garry Sibbald and I head a web design, development and web strategy company based in Bournemouth.
I have been in the web industry since its early beginnnings in the mid 90's and my motivation has always been to be at the forefront. This has certainly been of benefit to my clients and the success they enjoy speaks for itself.
Whilst I am passionate about the Internet, I appreciate that most of my clients don't share my same level of enthusiasm but by understanding their needs and concerns and tailoring an approach that suits them individually, some of my enthusiasm does rub off - even on the least enthusiastic!
Welcome to my blog "The witterings of a web developer"

The £105 million website
The £105 million website
It has recently come to light that the HMRC website has cost £35 million per year over the last 3 years! As a developer of websites, it is fair to say that I am more aware that the larger the website the more complex the technical requirements, non more-so than for a government operated site. Cost would naturally be high because[…]

The .tel domain went to public release today (24th March 2009), meaning that it is now available for anyone and everyone to purchase. Internet Explorer 6 is 7 years old today!
Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) was launched 7 years ago on August 27th 2001. This shouldn't really be of that much interest any more as Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) has been available for over 2 years, giving internet explorer users plenty of time to upgrade, right? - apparently not!It looks like IE6 is still the most popular browser in the world[…]

Bespoke or not Bespoke that is the question?

Typing errors make me want to Yell
Typing errors certainly can come back to haunt you! Now, I don't want to come across as too judgemental here. I make my fair share of typing errors and even worse, some remain unnoticed for ages. It's normally a case of not seeing the 'would for the trees' or the spell checker not picking up on grammatical interpretations of words (yes, I[…]

Small Business - Big Advantage
Small Business - Big Advantage
I read an article recently that had been written by an Aussie guy called Brendon Sinclair. The way he operates his business also has a lot of similarities to the way we operate ours, so[…]
